We held our April 2009 distribution on Saturday, April 25th from 7am until 9am.  The truck was there, waiting for us, at 4am, and we got started.

This distribution was special for me because it was our 1 year anniversary as a host site with Angel Food Ministries!  We also had a couple of other special things happen.

Mrs. Rhonda brought some stuffed animals of all shapes, types, and sizes to be given away during distribution.  These were a hit with kids and grown ups!  Thanks, Mrs. Rhonda!

The Denham Springs Relay for Life Event was held the night before and when they finished up bright and early Saturday morning, they brought bananas, granola bars, and Crystal Lite mix that ended up being extras so we could give those away during distribution, as well.  Thanks, guys, the bananas went in about 30 minutes!  The granola bars were all gone by the end of distribution and only a few Crystal Lite mixes were left.

The volunteers that came to help out with distribution were amazing, as usual.  It is astonishing how these folks just dig in and do whatever is necessary to make things run as smoothly as possible.  A special thanks from me to you for your dedication and hard work!  This could not happen without you all!

God has really taken the Angel Food Ministry at Live Oak Baptist Church and done some amazing things with it.  Expect some new and exciting things to appear during distribution over the next year.

Thanks to all of those who came out to help and to those who came to pick up their boxes.  I love you all, dearly!

If you aren’t participating in Angel Food, either by purchasing the boxes or volunteering, I encourage you to get in on it.  Either way, Angel Food will be a blessing to you!

  1. It is Great to hear how God is working through you. I love to see when others join in to help minister to the community. I can see from your post that you truly have a Great heart and are thinking outside the box to reach out to even the little ones during distribution with stuffed animals. I am so excited for you and I know that God is going to do great things through you! Keep up the incredible work you are doing.

    • Thanks for the kind words, Doug, it is amazing what God does through AFM and the volunteers. The Angel Food Ministry has been an amazing ride for us, this first year! I’m just thankful that God gave Pastors Joe and Linda the vision for this. The ways AFM has touched my family, our church, and our community is just God-sized!

The stuffed animals were actually an idea from one of my volunteers, Mrs. Rhonda. And they were a huge hit. We got lucky with the bananas, and they were gone in less than 30 minutes! We’re trying to do some new and interesting things with AFM and distribution day to reach out to the community a little bit more. This blog is one of those, plus I’ve started a newsletter that is sent out after distribution, I’m actually working on the new one, now, so we’ll see how it goes.

Every distribution day things get better and better. I can’t even put into words how elated I feel when we’ve finished. God definitely has his hands all over AFM. Our church has an amazing group of volunteers that get the job done better than expected, each and every month. Of course, there’s no way distribution could happen without all of those Christlike volunteers!

Thanks again for stopping by and leaving a comment!
